Once Blind

“Count it all blessing,” says Paul.

All of it? I ask.

“Yes, all of it,” he replies.

But I have doubts.

“Thomas doubted as well, but

his faith was reaffirmed by the Savior.”

And I have difficulty.

“Difficulty serves to develop perseverance,

and perseverance enables faithfulness in challenging times.”

I am a sinner.

“But you know the Savior,
and, because of your Savior you have life.”

Ah! Now I see!

An Exile’s Song

Re-called to light by the Sovereign,
I knew not why, only when and where
began the journey
remembered His covenant
asked His forgiveness.

His promise proclaimed in truth,
confirmed authenticity
made straight the path
lighted His pedestrian way
commenced the rhythm.

His people welcomed the weary,
loved the wanderer
sang of life eternal
imparted Holy perspective
conferred passion for Word.

I’m His! I’m home!
in the Lord’s timing
by His will
through His grace
among His faithful, settled in place.

Reverence

Prayer comes slowly tonight.

I have no words for the Almighty, but his own:
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name”
… then silence …

His wordless presence permeates my soul
… the stillness is full of Him.

Minutes pass with no words, no conclusion
… no amen.

Only unanswered questions remain
as His holy embrace assails consciousness
… grace evident in sleep

Reverently, I snore “amen!”
